Share Your Garden Knowledge With CFI
We are seeking gardeners interested in sharing their expertise and experience on gardening topics that promote self-provisioning and ecosystem health, with a goal of scheduling 8-12 workshops for the 2024 growing season. A list of potential topics is provided below; please note that we welcome additional/new suggestions. Any community member is invited to apply, and we especially encourage applications from those whose voices have been marginalized in the past.

Or email Susie Huser at susie@communityfoodinitiatives.org with the following: 1) Your name, phone number, and address; 2) Workshop title; 3) A short workshop description including materials you will need/provide; 4) Proposed location; 5) Any additional helpful details.
Application review will take place beginning February 22, 2024.
Workshops are typically 1-2 hours;
Workshops should take place any time during the 2024 gardening season, approximately April-October;
Workshops may take place at any CFI Community Garden, or at an alternative location decided in collaboration with the CFI Community Gardens team;
CFI will provide a small stipend for workshop leaders;
Workshops that include reusing/repurposing materials are encouraged; CFI has a small budget for workshop materials;
CFI will promote the workshops on social media, on our website, and through CFI email marketing.
Example Workshop Topics:
- Indoor seed starting
- Herb gardens for pollinators and health
- Raised beds and cold frames;
- Vertical/container gardening;
- Beneficial plants and insects
- Companion planting
- Planting for biodiversity and pest management;
- Food preservation (presented in collaboration with CFI’s Discovery Kitchen)
- Regenerating soil;
- Season extension and climate resilience.
