Internship Opportunities

Community Food Initiatives offers part-time, unpaid internship opportunities to students and community members who are interested in food justice, nutrition, public health and gardening/sustainable agriculture. Internships can be paid if the intern is a student eligible for federal work study through Ohio University or Hocking College. Internships can also be completed for class credit.

Fall, Winter and Spring applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. The application period for Fall internships began in July and will end when all positions are filled.

An internship at Community Food Initiatives allows individuals to build their resume and gain real world experience in a non-profit setting. With a small staff and an organization that isn’t for profit, there is always room for our team to grow in infinite directions, whether your interests are in biology, event planning, education, or a creative field.

Interns assist the Community Food Initiatives team by aiding in the Community Gardens, teaching lessons in Athens County schools, collecting local food donations at various local food markets, leading nutrition education programs, building our online presence, and more! Interns are also encouraged to attend internal staff meetings and educational justice discussions.
